Spanish Jewish philosopher and poet. Halevi rejected the neoplatonism of his milieu for failing to distinguish between the God of the Jews and that of Islam. In his greatest poem, Kuzari, he argues for a particular, concrete ‘God of history’ rather than an abstract ‘God of the philosophers’.
