Danish dancer and ballet master. He studied with August Bournonville and became one of the great danseurs nobles of the Royal Danish Ballet. Between 1881 and 1893 he was also the company's ballet master and choreographed several ballets, including Aditi (mus. Rung). He also developed his own system of dance notation in which he recorded the original choreography of several ballets including Bournonville's Napoli.
