(1855–1927) English scene painter, particularly associated with the productions of Henry Irving at the Lyceum Theatre from 1888 and those of Beerbohm Tree at Her Majesty's from 1898. Renowned for his spectacular, illusionistic scene painting, Harker's services were in constant demand by West End managers. He worked extensively for George Edwardes at the Gaiety and Daly's theatres in productions like San Toy and A Country Girl, for Oscar Asche (notably Chu Chin Chow at Her Majesty's in 1916), and from 1918 to 1923 for Marie Lohr, when she and her husband Anthony Prinsep managed the Globe Theatre.
