harmonic motion

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Motion that repeats itself, usually in equal intervals of time, back and forth across the same path. During harmonic motion, energy is being transformed from kinetic energy into potential energy and back. Harmonic motion occurs when a trampolinist stretches the bed of a trampoline imparting potential energy to it. This energy is then converted to kinetic energy that projects the trampolinist up into the air.
