(b Toronto, 4 Apr. 1956)
Canadian dancer. She studied at the National Ballet School (1971–2) then at Royal Winnipeg Ballet School from 1973, making her debut with the company while still a student in 1974. Though initially having to combat her own insecurity as a dancer, she won a devoted public through her passionately emotional interpretations and unusually lyrical style, and was promoted soloist in 1978 and principal in 1979. She danced both the classical and modern repertory, creating leading roles in Nebrada's The Firebird (1982) and Duse's Cinderella (Bavarian State Ballet, 1990), and guested abroad with Dutch National Ballet (1982), Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet (1984), and Bavarian State Opera Ballet (from 1990). After leaving Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 2005 she guested occasionally with the Pro Arte Danza, among others, finally retiring in 2006. She was made Officer of the Order of Canada in 1983.
