A conceptual model of determinants of health that was used by the authors of a visionary report, A New Perspective on the Health of Canadians, also called the Lalonde Report, released in 1974 in the name of the Minister for Health, Marc Lalonde, and written by public health scientists in the Canadian government department of National Health and Welfare. The health field concept identified human biology, lifestyle, environment, and health care organization as the four principal determinants of health.
