Conceptually and for planning purposes, society is sometimes considered to be made up of sectors: the health, educational, housing, transport, defense, law enforcement, commercial and industrial sectors. It is an imperfect categorization because of overlaps and omissions, but it is nonetheless useful. In terms of budgetary allocation and employment in the wealthy nations, the health sector is among the largest and most expensive.
