heart rate recovery period

Quick Reference

The period of time it takes for the heart rate to return to its resting rate following exercise. After regular aerobic training, the heart rate recovery period is significantly less than before the training. The period can be used to monitor changes in a person's aerobic fitness, but it is an unreliable indicator for comparing the aerobic fitness of different people because individual factors other than fitness can influence the heart rate recovery period.
