Quick Reference

A simple test which gives a rough estimate of aerobic fitness.

▪ Lie on your back and relax for about 5 minutes. Take your pulse. Slowly get up and, after standing for 10–15 seconds, take your pulse again. The difference between your lying or supine pulse and your standing pulse indicates your fitness: a difference of 0–7 is good; 8–11, average; and 12–19, poor.
