(b 1654; d 1724). German Hausmaler, stained-glass artist, glass-enameller and glass-engraver. He painted religious scenes on Nuremberg faience, which before the establishment of the Nuremberg Faience Factory (1712) consisted of imported wares from Delft, Hanau and Frankfurt am Main (e.g. Eghalskrug, c. 1690; Nuremberg, Ger. Nmus.). He was an important exponent of the decoration of glass with Schwarzlot, and painted glass for optical picture lanterns.
