An important enzyme in triglyceride metabolism (hepatic triglyceride lipase, EC, 499 aa) that is bound to and acts at the endothelial surfaces of hepatic tissues. Mutations in hepatic lipase result in abnormally triglyceride-rich low- and high-density lipoproteins. See lipoprotein lipase.
