poet and chronicler. A monk of Reichenau, he wrote on a wide range of subjects. His works include many hymns and antiphons, but the attribution to him of the ‘Salve Regina’ and the ‘Alma Redemptoris Mater’ rests on insufficient evidence. His ‘Chronicon’ is valuable for its record of contemporary history.
