The relation of the growth rate of a part of a developing organism to the growth rate of the whole or of another part. If the organ in question grows more rapidly than the organism as a whole, it shows tachyauxesis; if less rapidly, bradyauxesis; if at the same rate, isauxesis. See allometry.
