Quick Reference

At one time used as a title by some grammar schools (as in ‘girls' high school’), non‐selective schools, and independent schools, it is still used in Scotland in the term junior high school, a school which offers both primary and secondary provision. Pupils may also associate the term with the American secondary schooling system, with which they have become familiar through popular television series.
