Famous poet. Born into a Shii family from al-Hilla, Iraq. Became court poet in Mardin in 1302 under the Turkmen Artukids. Author of several works on literary forms. Famous for his collection of poetry (diwan) and for his taqiyah-oriented life in the Sunni world, in which he spent the majority of his life.
