A reflection nebula in Taurus, also known as NGC 1555, associated with the young, irregular variable star T Tauri. Both were discovered in 1852 by the English astronomer John Russell Hind (1823–95). Major variations in the brightness, extent, and form of the nebula occur over decades. More rapid changes may be caused by variations in T Tauri itself and shadowing by dense clouds of material near the star.
