Quick Reference

The founder of a ritual and scholastic tradition belonging to the Taittirīya branch of the Black Yajur Veda. The Hiraṇyakeśi Kalpasūtra takes his name, although it is not clear whether he is the author, or whether it simply belongs to the tradition named after him. The Kalpasūtra is composed of the Hiraṇyakeśi Śrauta-, Gṛhya-, and Dharma-sūtras, although the latter is effectively a copy of the Āpastamba Dharmasūtra.
