A highly acidic protein (HCP, 699 aa) found in the sarcoplasmic reticulum that binds to triadin and may affect calcium release through the ryanodine receptor. Binds low density lipoprotein with high affinity. Histidine rich protein II is a pH-sensitive actin-binding protein, similar to hisactophilin, that is found in Plasmodium falciparum and that also binds phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate.
