Danish philosopher. While he upheld a spiritual interpretation of the universe, he denied that there were sufficient theoretical grounds for applying the notions ‘cause’ and ‘personality’ to the Absolute or for affirming (or denying) belief in personal immortality. He described his position as ‘critical monism’.
