Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, all workers are entitled to a period of paid holiday each year (Byrne Bros Ltd v Baird  IRLR 96 (EAT). In October 2007 holiday entitlement increased from 4 to 4.8 weeks (24 days for those working a five-day week). From April 2009, it will increase to 5.6 weeks (28 days if you work a five-day week) with pro-rata entitlement for part-timers. Currently, holiday entitlement is inclusive of bank holidays.
