Quick Reference

The protein products of neuronal immediate-early genes (IEG) that are enriched at excitatory synapses and bind metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR). There are multiple splice variants of homer-1 and at least two isoforms, homer-2 and -3, with similar properties. They are involved in the clustering of subsets of mGluRs and may also regulate activity of the receptors. See also GRIP; postsynaptic protein (postsynaptic density (PSD) proteins).
