The 100-inch (2.5-m) reflector at Mount Wilson Observatory, opened in 1917. It is named after the American businessman John D. Hooker (1837–1910), who provided funds to buy the mirror. It was out of operation 1985–93, but was reopened when Mount Wilson Institute took over the running of the observatory.
