An ultrabasic igneous rock composed of more than 90% hornblende. Where other ferromagnesium minerals constitute 10–50% of the rock, the rock can be named according to the other types of ferromagnesium minerals, for example, pyroxene hornblendite, olivine–pyroxene hornblendite.
