Material that may be infected or contain toxic substances and sharp objects that are discarded after use by personnel in hospitals. It includes used wound dressings, human blood, organs and tissue derived from operative procedures, used hypodermic needles and other sharp or cutting objects (sharps), and bloodstained operating room gowns and drapes.
