A chunk of HTML code which provides the skeleton structure for a page. It can be reused time and time again with the detail added for each page that is based on it. An example of an HTML template is a catalogue page which is used for an ecommerce site that sells some products via a catalogue. A template would define each page and contain space for the name of the product, details of the product including the price, and an image of the product. This template would be reused again and again with the specific details of each product being inserted into a copy of the template, thus ensuring a consistent look and feel across all the pages of the catalogue. A number of modern HTML editors provide a facility for the development of HTML templates and their repeated use.
