A binary system discovered in 1974 consisting of a pulsar orbiting with a companion star. It was used to demonstrate, by measurements of a period of time, that the system was emitting gravitational waves. It is named after the US physicists Russell Hulse (1950–  ) and Joseph Taylor (1941–  ).
