Quick Reference

A form of clonal reproduction in species hybrids whose gametes carry only the nuclear genome derived from one of the parental species. For example, a hybrid species of frog, Rana esculenta, is derived from crosses between R. lessonae and R. ridibunda, but only ridibunda chromosomes (and lessonae mitochondria) are found in gametes of esculenta.
