A constituent of the rind of the fruit of Garcinia cambogia. HCA inhibits the action of the citrate lyase (an enzyme involved in fat synthesis). Therefore, in theory, HCA supplementation could reduce the conversion of carbohydrate to fat and increase glycogen storage in the liver, facilitating weight loss, and enhancing endurance capacity. However, research on the effects of HCA on human weight loss or physical performance is inconclusive.
