Defects of kidney function related to a high serum calcium, irrespective of cause. Impaired urine-concentrating ability and reduction in glomerular filtration rate are common features. Histologically, calcific deposits in the kidneys (nephrocalcinosis) may be seen in cases of long-standing hypercalcaemia.
