Quick Reference

A condition in which immunoglobulin concentrations in the blood exceed normal limits (IgA, 76–390 mg/dL; IgG: 650–1500 mg/dL; IgM, 40–345 mg/dL; IgE, 0–380 IU/ml). May result from continuous antigenic stimulation in chronic infections, from autoimmune diseases, or from abnormal proliferation of B cells as in Waldenstrom macroglobulinaemia or in myelomatosis.
