Overview

hypomorph

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Any allele that permits a subnormal expression of the normal phenotype. For example, a mutated allele may encode an enzyme that is unstable. However, enough functional enzyme may be generated so that the reaction proceeds, but slowly. Since the genetic block is incomplete, a hypomorphic allele is sometimes called “leaky.”
