Nephew of Iago ab Idwal, seized the throne in 979. In 983 he was reported, in alliance with Aelfhere (ealdorman of Mercia), to have attacked Deheubarth, but to have been beaten off. His understanding with the English gained for him the nickname ‘Ddrwg’ (‘the Bad’), but after six years he is said to have been killed by Saxon treachery.
