Quick Reference

A channel cut by meltwater, running parallel to the ice margin, and found most often in a glacier's ablation area, where rates of surface ablation and meltwater production are highest. Parallel sets of ice-marginal channels may form when the ice margin retreats. See Wadham et al. (2001) Hydr. Procs 15, 12.
