The deposition of ice on aircraft, in the form of frost, glaze, rime, or a mixture of the two last. Icing most commonly occurs at temperatures just below freezing, and its rate increases with the supercooled water content of clouds and with droplet size. It is more significant in cumuliform than stratiform clouds.
