Idrisi Tariqah

Refers both to various Sufi brotherhoods and schools established by students of Ahmad ibn Idris (d. 1837) and to the order established by his descendants after his death. The prayers and litanies of Ibn Idris were spread throughout Egypt, the Balkans, Sudan, India, Southeast Asia, and the Ottoman Empire. Most prominent among his students were Muhammad ibn Ali al-Sanusi and Muhammad Uthman al-Mirghani, who respectively founded the Sanusi and Khatmi orders, which played important political roles.
