Quick Reference

Son of Anarawd, succeeded his father in 916. He appears to have been restless under the overlordship of Athelstan, and when Edmund succeeded in 939, Idwal rebelled. In 942 he and his brother Elisedd were killed, and control of Gwynedd passed to Hywel Dda of Seisyllwg.
