Quick Reference
A family of GPI-anchored neural cell adhesion molecules that influence guidance of neurons to their appropriate targets. They belong to the immunoglobulin superfamily and founder members were LAMP (limbic system-associated membrane protein), OBCAM (opioid-binding cell adhesion molecule), and neurotrimin, hence the name. NEGR1 is another member of the family. In rat a related molecule, kilon (46 kDa; kindred of IgLON) has been reported; neurotractin is the chick homologue.
