imagery rehabilitation

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Use of imagery to accelerate recovery from a sports injury. Imagery rehabilitation can be used to help an athlete recover mentally from a traumatic incident. For example, a cyclist injured in a crash might imagine riding a bike again before actually getting on it, so that anxiety associated with the memory of the crash can be reduced. Imagery rehabilitation can also be used to accelerate physical healing. An injured athlete could use internal imagery to imagine, for example, blood flowing to an injured knee, bathing it with the nutrients and warmth required for healing.
