Quick Reference

A model of the control of limb movement that suggests that motor programmes time the onset, duration, and amount of electrical activity delivered to a muscle, thereby controlling the impulse of forces from the muscles. Since the pattern of limb movement can be determined by the amount and duration of the forces applied to it, the impulse-timing model is viewed as one way in which the trajectory of the limb can be controlled.
