A meander formed when a rejuvenated river cuts deeper into the original meander; see O. Catuneanu (2006). An intrenched meander is an incised meander with a symmetrical cross-valley profile, an ingrown meander one with an asymmetrical profile (Rich (1914) J. Geol. 22).
