Quick Reference

A method of measuring skin temperature by the amount of infrared radiation emitted at the skin surface. It may be used clinically to locate inflamed areas that are warmer than surrounding tissues. It is also used in sports science research, for example, to compare the loss of heat from different parts of the body during exercise.
