A type of state responsibility that is occasioned following injury to aliens by agents of the host state, the injury being incurred solely because of the nationality of the alien. A state is in consequence accountable for the acts of its agents in treating the aliens differently from the nationals of the host state. The International Law Commission has published draft articles establishing rules in this area.
