Quick Reference

The apparent magnitude an extended object would have if all of its light were concentrated into a point source. This is a difficult quantity to measure for galaxies, nebulae, or clusters which cover a large area of sky. Integrated magnitudes may be measured with standard filters such as B or V, or bolometrically.
