A qualification for pupils aged 18, available at some schools in the United Kingdom and overseas, successful completion of which qualifies pupils for entry to higher education in the UK and in other countries which recognize the qualification. Referred to colloquially as the ‘International Bac’, it covers a broad curriculum of six subjects which include languages, mathematics, and a science. It may be offered at some schools as an alternative to General Certificate of Education Advanced Levels. See also baccalauréat.
