International non-government organization, such as an international sport federation, or a body formed to support a particular conception of sport, such as the International Olympic Committee. The status of INGOs is important, as by definition such bodies are not usually accountable to any political constituency at national or international level, and so their very constitution can raise issues and questions concerning the nature of sport governance.
