interstellar maser

Quick Reference

A maser in a star-forming region, in the dense clouds of gas and dust that surround young stars or protostars. They are the brightest maser sources in our Galaxy. Some interstellar masers are associated with violent ejections of matter from young stars, while others are located in disks of material around young stars from which planetary systems might be forming.
