The standard Madhyamaka view of emptiness in contrast to the doctrine of ‘extrinsic emptiness’. According to the theory of intrinsic emptiness all conventional phenomena are empty and devoid of inherent existence (svabhāva). Accordingly, conventional phenomena and experiences are regarded as delusive fabrications of the unenlightened mind which falsely imputes existence to them.
