One of the central regions of the major histocompatibility complex (H-2) of the mouse. It contains genes coding for Ia antigens and controlling various immune responses. It has five subregions (A, B, J, E, C) and may be the equivalent of the D/DR region of the human major histocompatibility complex. See HLA complex.
