Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Describing contraction in which the tension remains constant. Since the overlap of thick and thin filaments in striated muscle changes as the muscle contracts, this means that the numbers of cross-bridges being formed remains the same, even though potentially more could be made. Compare isometric tension.
