Tel Aviv-based ballet company. It was founded as a small chamber group in 1967, under the direction of Berta Yampolsky and Hillel Markman, who had previously danced with Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. In 1973 it expanded dramatically with the incorporation of fifteen Jewish-American dancers and its 30-plus dancers now perform a repertoire that ranges from productions of the classics to Balanchine, Charrat, Spoerli, Lubovitch, Krzysztof Pastor, and work by Israeli choreographers such as Yampolsky and Domi Reiter-Stoffer. In 2004 the company moved into a new purpose-built base with its associate school The Classical Ballet Centre. It regularly tours abroad.
